Synopsis

Elaine knew the feared witch Bella as the woman who saved her. When tragedy destroys that home, Elaine awakens twenty years later with Bella's heart beating inside her chest and a promise still to fulfill. She searches for Bella's son Rhys, expecting the child she remembers, and instead finds a guarded adult shaped by the intervening years. Protecting him now means facing both his mistrust and the unanswered questions surrounding the catastrophe they survived.

Story profile
★ My Take

Elaine's resolve gives the story a welcome sense of direction: she has a promise to keep and the ability to act on it. The lost years make her reunion with Rhys emotionally interesting, while the fantasy mystery supplies a clear reason for them to remain involved. The execution is generally more accessible than intricate. Expect an appealing central setup and romantic reassurance rather than unusually deep world-building or complex antagonists.

✓ Why you'd like it

The reunion asks two people to reconcile incompatible memories of the same relationship. Elaine carries an unfinished obligation, while Rhys has lived through years she never experienced. That mismatch makes recognition and trust more rewarding than a simple return to familiar affection would be.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Elaine knew Rhys as a child before the time jump, which can make the later romance uncomfortable for some readers despite their separation. The supernatural conflict is comparatively straightforward, and certain developments may feel more convenient than fully earned.
