Synopsis

Wealthy high schooler Gabin is isolated, bullied, and notorious for fighting back with a vicious temper. Concerned for her safety, her family secretly pays working-class student Tae-ung an enormous sum to transfer schools and protect her without revealing his mission. Acting like an ordinary classmate proves difficult when Gabin rejects help, school hostility escalates, and Tae-ung begins to care about the guarded person behind her reputation.

Story profile
★ My Take

She's Hopeless uses a familiar rich-girl-and-poor-boy setup to explore how money, reputation, and family neglect shape teenage behavior. Gabin can be abrasive, but the story gradually reveals the vulnerability behind her anger without pretending that pain excuses every choice. Tae-ung's financial motivation adds tension to his growing sincerity, making the hidden bodyguard arrangement emotionally consequential rather than merely cute. Seokwoo's clean action and expressive comedy keep the series readable even when the school drama turns harsh. Some conflicts lean heavily on coincidence and extreme bullying, yet the central relationship works because both leads must confront the ways they misjudge and use each other.

✓ Why you'd like it

The romance is grounded in two teenagers who have strong reasons not to trust easily. Gabin's defensive intensity and Tae-ung's practical warmth create lively conflict, while the bodyguard secret supplies steady suspense. The series also gives their class difference real weight instead of treating wealth as a purely glamorous obstacle.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The bullying and family dysfunction can be more severe than the bright school-romance presentation suggests. Gabin's hostility is deliberately difficult at first, and the secrecy surrounding Tae-ung's paid role creates repeated misunderstandings that may frustrate readers who prefer early honesty and low-angst relationships.
