Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Hunter Yeonseung Choi lives for training, but Earth needs more than an ordinary monster slayer when powerful celestials begin competing for humanity. A celestial who foresees him defending the planet sends him into the Abyss to grow stronger. Stranded in that hostile realm, he spends an immense span of time battling monsters and honing his martial arts until he becomes a celestial himself. Returning home means confronting both supernatural threats and a hunter society that has no idea what he really is.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

The most appealing thing here is Yeonseung’s wonderfully single-minded devotion to training: even cosmic danger can become another workout. His earnestness gives the absurd power fantasy a lighter personality than its title suggests. The extended Abyss opening has adventure and comic charm, but the return to Earth trades much of that scale for smaller hunter conflicts, making the later direction feel less focused.

✓ Read it if…

The joke is often the gap between what Yeonseung considers ordinary and what everyone else finds impossible. That mismatch makes his interactions with gods and hunters entertaining even when a fight’s outcome is obvious, especially if you enjoy a hero whose greatest passion remains getting stronger.

! Skip it if…

The return promised by the title takes a substantial opening arc to arrive. Afterward, repetitive misunderstandings and relatively minor opponents can dilute the stakes; readers expecting continuous battles between gods may find the hunter-society detours frustrating.
