Synopsis

Asina, the adventurous daughter of Cromwall's archduke, slips away from her sheltered life and travels into the dangerous desert. Her journey goes wrong when she encounters Sihad Zain Behdad, king of an enemy nation, who suspects her of being a spy. After imprisonment and a failed escape, Asina is placed in his harem and must conceal who she really is while searching for a path home.

Story profile
★ My Take

The desert setting gives Traces of the Moon a different visual flavor from the usual northern-duke romance, and Asina's independent streak keeps the captivity premise lively. Her banter with Sihad gradually softens the power imbalance, though the setup still relies on imprisonment and forced proximity. It is an easy read for readers who enjoy adventurous royal romance more than intricate politics.

✓ Why you'd like it

The travel-loving heroine and desert setting keep the story from feeling like another palace-only romance. Sihad's suspicion creates steady tension while Asina's attempts to preserve her identity give the relationship a playful cat-and-mouse quality.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The initial imprisonment and harem setup can be uncomfortable, especially for readers sensitive to unequal power dynamics. The plot is also more romance-adventure than deeply political.
