Synopsis

Princess Nakaba of Senan is forced to marry Caesar, the prince of enemy kingdom Belquat, as part of a fragile peace agreement. Treated as a political hostage and scorned for her red hair, she relies on her loyal attendant Loki and a mysterious power called the Arcana of Time. As conflict deepens, Nakaba must choose how to use that power and what kind of future she wants for both humans and the oppressed Ajin people.

Story profile
★ My Take

Dawn of the Arcana packs an impressive amount of politics, prejudice, romance, and tragedy into only thirteen volumes. Nakaba has real agency, Caesar's growth gives the arranged-marriage romance weight, and Loki keeps the emotional stakes complicated. Some late developments move too quickly, but the series remains gripping because every romantic choice is tied to power and survival.

✓ Why you'd like it

Readers enjoy the dramatic enemy-prince setup, Nakaba's courage, and the way Caesar gradually confronts his entitlement. The beautiful art, dangerous court politics, supernatural visions, and tense bond among Nakaba, Caesar, and Loki make it easy to binge without committing to an extremely long series.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Caesar begins as possessive and cruel, the love triangle can be painful, and the discrimination against the Ajin is central to the story. Several readers also feel the final stretch and ending are rushed compared with the careful political buildup.
