Synopsis

Hana has grown up alongside Haru, a werewolf expected to protect her and remain beneath humans in society. Their familiarity makes affection feel natural, but the rules around them treat Haru as property rather than an equal. As their feelings become more difficult to conceal, school relationships expose the cruelty built into that hierarchy. What begins with recognizable teenage worries gradually forces both of them to confront how little safety their world offers werewolves.

Story profile
★ My Take

The early warmth makes the later cruelty unusually painful. Hana and Haru’s relationship gives the story an emotional center, while the treatment of werewolves turns everyday school dynamics into something far more threatening. The escalating tragedy is powerful but divisive, especially for readers drawn in by the bright artwork and gentler opening.

✓ Why you'd like it

The story lets affection and injustice occupy the same frame, so familiar gestures take on different meanings depending on who holds power. Its emotional impact comes from caring about individual relationships before recognizing how thoroughly the wider society can intrude upon them.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The tone becomes substantially darker than the opening suggests, with sustained abuse and major losses. Choosing it as a light werewolf romance is likely to be upsetting; the ending prioritizes emotional consequences over the comfort many romance readers expect.
