Synopsis

Among the Siyo, healing ability determines a person's value, and Bayan is treated as an outcast because she seems unable to heal others. Sent to Emperor Dhan's court, she faces an apparently fatal future: the ruler's curse drives him into murderous bloodlust. Yet their meeting creates a possibility neither could find alone. Bayan must navigate a hostile palace while discovering whether her connection with Dhan can change the lives others have already decided for them.

Story profile
★ My Take

The strongest part is the contrast between the frightening premise and the tenderness that develops within the central relationship. Bayan's increasing confidence gives the romance more substance than a simple rescue fantasy, while the traditional clothing and imperial setting make the art especially appealing. Palace opposition can feel familiar, but readers who stay past the brutal introduction often find a notably affectionate couple underneath it.

✓ Why you'd like it

The emotional reward comes from watching care become practical: reassurance, trust, and consideration matter alongside declarations of love. Its imperial setting also gives the couple responsibilities beyond their private feelings, so romantic progress happens against a larger world of hierarchy and obligation.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The opening contains substantial violence and mistreatment, and the emperor's position creates a pronounced power imbalance. Palace antagonists can feel conventional. The separately linked adult side stories contain explicit material beyond the standard edition's rating.
