Synopsis

Elisha and Erich grow up in the same palace after his father takes her in. Their promised marriage is complicated by years of friction and Erich’s insistence that he does not want it. Once he becomes emperor, Elisha decides to remove the problem by disappearing and leaving a letter. Instead of welcoming his freedom, Erich begins searching for her. Their shared history becomes the obstacle to a clean separation as he confronts what her absence actually means.

Story profile
★ My Take

Elisha’s departure gives the familiar reluctant-fiancé dynamic a useful moment of consequence. Erich can no longer rely on her simply remaining available while he avoids deciding what he wants. The early appeal is that reversal, but whether the romance satisfies will depend on how seriously the story treats her reasons for leaving; the current English run and reception remain limited.

✓ Why you'd like it

A childhood relationship can make people assume they already understand one another. Removing Elisha from the palace interrupts that certainty, offering the pleasure of seeing a powerful man forced to distinguish the person he knows from the role he expected her to keep fulfilling.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The premise depends on hurtful communication and a man pursuing the woman who has left. Anyone wanting an immediate clean break may find the childhood attachment frustrating. The English release is new, so the scores are provisional and later reconciliation cannot yet be judged confidently.
