Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Three years into her career as a software developer, Lee Danbi keeps her ambitions modest and her expectations manageable. She has even put aside the school crush she once considered out of reach. Then an unsettling daily fortune precedes the arrival of her new team leader: Han Haeil, that very first love. His return brings old feelings into her working life, forcing Danbi to reconsider whether the quiet existence she protects is contentment or a way of avoiding disappointment.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

The premise has a sharper emotional hook than a straightforward boss romance: Danbi treats wanting more as a threat to her security. That makes the reunion promising for readers interested in how self-protection complicates attraction. Early discussion highlights romantic tension but also questions the leads' exaggerated size difference. With limited reception available, this is a provisional recommendation rather than a settled verdict on the full series.

✓ Read it if…

Danbi's habit of limiting her own hopes gives the attraction a personal cost. The appeal lies in watching someone who has carefully managed her expectations face a person who makes that strategy difficult to maintain, especially when keeping her distance now involves navigating work.

! Skip it if…

A romance involving a direct superior brings an unavoidable workplace power imbalance. Early readers have also criticized the contrast between the large male lead and the much smaller-looking heroine; that visual dynamic may distract readers who prefer more evenly proportioned adult couples.

From my reading notes— coff33latt33

When it hooked me

The hook for me is Hae-il introducing himself as Danbi’s new team leader. Running into an old crush would be awkward enough, but a workplace introduction asks her to respond professionally before she’s had time to process anything. I like how one ordinary meeting can suddenly make the life she thought she had settled into feel unfamiliar.

Art & visual storytelling

I have to admit, Hae-il’s face card was part of the hook for me. The first-love reunion already caught my interest, but his character design gave me another reason to linger. Sometimes a male lead is simply that good-looking, and I’m happy to admit that helped pull me in.
