Best Second Chance Manhwa
The best second chance manhwa turn regret into a fresh start, with tender reunions, satisfying revenge, and futures worth fighting for.
Sometimes getting another chance means waking up years before everything went wrong; sometimes it means finding the courage to love again after heartbreak. This list includes both, from heroines rebuilding a marriage to people choosing a completely different future. There is something especially satisfying about watching someone recognize an old mistake and finally take another path—even when knowing the future does not make the choice easy.
These picks come from my ratings and reviews on Moonlight Toons, ordered by my scores, with a mix of affectionate romances, heavier family stories, revenge, and action. I look for more than a convenient reset: the second chance should change how the characters treat themselves and each other. If you want comfort, start with the gentler romances; if you want payback, there are a few very deserving people about to lose control of the plot.
Quick picks
- Best overall: The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway — A layered marriage romance about trauma, freedom, and learning to trust.
- Best completed marriage romance: Marriage of Convenience — A prickly heroine rebuilds her future and her once-distant marriage.
- Best gentle romance: Please Marry Me Again! — She chooses the same husband again, with affection worth choosing twice.
- Best slow burn: My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me — A protective marriage slowly becomes the family she needed.
- Best All Ages pick: Yumi's Cells — Funny brain cells, messy breakups, and another chance to choose herself.
Our top 15 Second Chance picks
1. The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway
Inés plans a marriage she can escape, but her memories of ruined lives give this lavish, layered romance a painful edge—expect heavy abuse themes and a hiatus.
2. Marriage of Convenience
Bianca gets another chance at her cold political marriage, and watching her prickly self-preservation turn into real affection makes this completed romance satisfying, though the child-marriage backstory needs a heads-up.
3. My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me
Murdered for her inheritance, Pereshati returns to the past and seeks protection through marriage, with a gothic family mystery and quietly earned trust making this a patient, rewarding slow burn.
4. See You in My 19th Life
Remembering her past lives gives Jieum another chance to find the boy she left behind, but this completed modern romance makes grief and living in the present just as meaningful as reunion.
5. Please Marry Me Again!
Shurya returns to the past determined to marry her beloved husband again, making this completed story a sweet pick for mutual devotion without endless misunderstandings.
6. Another Typical Fantasy Romance
Given another chance after a disastrous fantasy life, Lithera seeks out her kindest pen pal, and their honest conversations make this affectionate romance refreshing even with a hiatus to consider.
7. The Redemption of Earl Nottingham
Madelyn returns to a time before her devastating marriage, and the possibility of changing its course gives this slow, moody romance emotional weight without brushing aside war trauma and abuse.
8. The Siren: Becoming the Villain's Family
Aria returns to the past determined to save the man who tried to rescue her, with sumptuous art and a fiercely protective family bringing warmth to a story that opens with severe child abuse.
9. Doom Breaker
Humanity’s last warrior gets ten years back to prevent its destruction, making tactical battles and personal stakes the draw here, though the graphic violence and unfinished hiatus make this a heavier commitment.
10. The Fantasie of a Stepmother
Shuri wakes on the day of her husband’s funeral with another chance to protect her stepchildren, and the careful family development and beautiful period art reward patience with its dense politics.
11. Perfect Marriage Revenge
Iju turns a return to the past into a contract-marriage revenge plan, delivering dependable romantic support and satisfying family payback with plenty of melodrama and abuse themes.
12. Marry My Husband
Jiwon wakes ten years before her husband and best friend’s betrayal destroys her, and this completed revenge romance pairs brisk karmic payback with a reassuring ally after a brutal opening.
13. Yumi's Cells
After heartbreak, Yumi’s opinionated brain cells help her stumble toward new love and creative ambition, making this long, completed story a funny, compassionate second chance without a time reset.
14. Goodbye, In-Law!
Two bickering enemies return to their teenage years to save their siblings, and sharing the future’s grief gives this completed romance a moving foundation beneath the school comedy.
15. Sigrid
Executed after a lifetime of unquestioning duty, Sigrid gets five years back and slowly learns friendship and emotional honesty, making this completed story a thoughtful pick for growth over revenge.
Second Chance manhwa FAQ
What is a second chance manhwa?
It is a story about getting another opportunity to change a life, rebuild a relationship, or move forward after loss. Please Marry Me Again! uses a return to the past, while Yumi's Cells explores fresh starts through ordinary life and relationships.
What is the best second chance manhwa?
The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway is my highest-rated pick here for its layered heroine, emotional depth, and lavish art. It has heavy trauma themes and is listed as on hiatus, so Marriage of Convenience is a strong completed alternative if its child-marriage backstory is something you are comfortable reading.
Are there completed second chance manhwa?
Yes—Please Marry Me Again!, See You in My 19th Life, and Marry My Husband are all marked completed in my catalog. Choose the first for affectionate marriage romance, the second for a bittersweet modern reunion, or the third for revenge with supportive romance.
Which second chance manhwa should I read first?
Start with Please Marry Me Again! if you want a gentle romance where choosing the same person again feels deserved. If you would rather skip noble families and fantasy marriages, See You in My 19th Life offers a modern setting and a heroine who actively pursues the person she loves, with grief woven into the story.
Is there an All Ages second chance manhwa?
Yumi's Cells is marked All Ages on Moonlight Toons and offers a fresh-start story without regression or reincarnation. Its funny cell characters lighten the mood, but painful breakups and adult relationship concerns still make the content notes worth checking.
Keep looking for your next fresh start: browse every second chance manhwa, or explore regression for more stories that turn back the clock.

How we review manhwa
Every review, rating and reading guide on Moonlight Toons is written by one person, for readers. This page explains exactly what goes into a review, what the numbers mean, and how titles end up on our lists.
Who writes the reviews
Reviews, ratings and guides are written by Dawna A., a manhwa reader and the founder of Moonlight Toons. They're personal editorial opinions from a reader's point of view, not aggregated scores or publisher copy.
What we cover
Mostly Korean manhwa, with a focus on romance, fantasy and villainess stories. A handful of Japanese manga and Chinese manhua are included too; every title shows an origin badge (Manhwa, Manga or Manhua) so you always know which is which.
What every review includes
- A short synopsis that sets up the premise without giving away the ending.
- The review itself, plus why you'd like it and what may not be for everyone, so you can tell quickly whether a title fits you.
- Three scores out of 10: story, art and romance (see below).
- Tags for mood, tropes and the type of lead, which power the browse pages and the recommendation finder.
- A content rating and content warnings, listed plainly.
- Status and chapter count (ongoing, completed or on hiatus).
- Where to read it legally, with links to the official platforms.
How the scores work
Each title gets three scores out of 10, one each for story, art and romance. The overall score you see on cards and lists is the average of the three. Scores are personal judgments, so two titles with the same number can be great for very different reasons; the written review always explains the why.
Content ratings and warnings
Every title carries a content rating: All Ages, R15 (mature themes such as violence or emotional abuse), or R18 / R19 (adult content). Content warnings are listed on each title page so you can decide before you start.
18+ titles are locked. They never appear in public lists, guides or recommendations, and they can only be opened by a signed-in reader who has confirmed they are 18 or older.
Spoilers
Reviews stick to the premise. Each title page shows a spoiler level (none, minor, moderate or major) so you know what to expect before reading the review. Guides never reveal a plot twist; they tell you there is one.
Legal reading links only
We link only to official platforms, never to unofficial or pirated copies. Moonlight Toons isn't affiliated with any publisher or platform, and the links are there so you can support the creators by reading at the source.
How lists and guides are made
Our "Best of" pages and reading guides only include titles that have been reviewed and rated here, ranked by those scores and adjusted by hand where a pick suits a list better. Titles are never ranked in exchange for payment.
Keeping things accurate
Status, chapter counts and reading links change over time, and we update them as they do. Spotted something out of date or wrong? Email support@moonlighttoons.com and we'll fix it.
