Synopsis

After Emperor Rupert executes Laliette Bellua and her entire family, she wakes up six years in the past as her twelve-year-old self. Determined to prevent the same ending, Laliette decides the safest path is to approach the future emperor before he rises to power and make herself indispensable. The problem is that young Rupert is living under another identity, trusts almost no one, and is far more complicated than the monster Laliette remembers.

Story profile
★ My Take

This is a regression romance that earns its emotional weight by refusing to make Laliette's fear disappear just because the timeline changed. Her uneasy bond with Rupert develops through mistrust, survival, and gradual understanding rather than instant forgiveness. The political and family revelations add real substance, though the slow burn can feel demanding when the story lingers on court conflict.

✓ Why you'd like it

The strongest appeal is watching two deeply guarded characters slowly revise what they believe about each other. Laliette stays driven by survival and family loyalty, while Rupert's shifting role in her second life keeps the romance tense, uncomfortable, and emotionally rewarding.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The early relationship is intentionally hostile, and both the family abuse and power imbalance can make the romance difficult to warm to. The political buildup is also gradual, so readers wanting quick romantic payoff may find the middle stretch slow.
