Synopsis

Kayena Hill, celebrated as the empire's greatest beauty, realizes she is living a third life as the doomed villainess she once was. Refusing to remain a puppet for her manipulative brother or accept another terrible death, she uses her knowledge of the future to seize political power and make the court dance to her plans.

Story profile
★ My Take

Few series make royal fantasy look this opulent: the costumes, jeweled palettes, and character designs are consistently spectacular. Kayena's transformation into a composed strategist is satisfying, though the political plot sometimes relies more on presentation and convenient victories than the intricate maneuvering its atmosphere promises.

✓ Why you'd like it

It delivers some of the genre's most luxurious artwork, an elegant and calculating princess, a dangerously possessive brother, court intrigue, and a romance that begins with genuine distrust.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The visual spectacle can overshadow the depth of the schemes, pacing becomes uneven, and the comic ending may feel abrupt or incomplete compared with the much longer original novel.
