Tapas Is Shutting Down: Reading Options for 222 Series
Tapas is shutting down on March 31, 2027. If your reading list lives there, the useful question is what you can keep reading elsewhere. This guide sorts 222 series covered by Moonlight Toons by their listed alternatives, with English comics separated from print editions, source novels, and non-English options.
Last checked: October 21, 2026. The closure is confirmed in the Tapas End of Service Notice. The tables use Moonlight Toons title-page links, supplemented by publisher-verified English volumes for Villains Are Destined to Die, The Beginning After the End, and A Business Proposal. They are a reading directory, not a list of announced license transfers.
What happens to Tapas, your Ink, and unlocked episodes?
The official End of Service FAQ gives the final cutoff as March 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Previously unlocked content will become inaccessible too.
- You can no longer acquire Ink, including free Ink, from October 1, 2026. Existing Ink remains usable until the cutoff.
- Tapas says Ink transactions are final and non-refundable.
- Tapas purchases cannot transfer to another Kakao service or platform.
- Titles may be removed before the final service date.
I would start with a simple reading-list check: record each series, the last episode you finished, and whether you want to continue it. A list of titles and episode numbers is much easier to rebuild than a library you only remember by its cover.
For leftover Ink, I would prioritize something you can realistically finish or catch up with. Unlocking chapters and reading them are separate steps, so leave time to actually read what you choose. A long queue of unopened episodes is easy to forget when the deadline still feels distant.
What about Roxana, Villains Are Destined to Die, and TBATE?
Roxana: I did not locate a confirmed new English comic destination in this check. Its current Tapas announcement is a hiatus notice, not a transfer announcement. The existence of a series page alone does not establish that every reader can still unlock its chapters.
Villains Are Destined to Die: Yen Press / Ize Press lists English comic volumes. This is an existing volume edition, not evidence of a newly announced move from Tapas. Check volume coverage before expecting to continue from your last episode.
The Beginning After the End: Yen Press lists English comic volumes. I did not verify a replacement English serialization platform during this check. Existing books and a future home for continuing digital episodes are separate questions.
How to use this guide without losing your place
Start with the English-comic table if you want the closest replacement for reading in the app. A print edition may be useful if you prefer volumes, while a source novel is an option only if you are comfortable switching formats. Neither automatically matches the comic episode you last read.
The statuses and scores below are from the live Moonlight Toons catalog. Completed describes the catalog entry, not a guarantee that every linked edition has finished translating or publishing the story. Scores are our existing editorial averages, not new ratings created for this guide.
Before starting on a different service, check its language, region availability, chapter coverage, and edition. Full versions, revised editions, side stories, and earlier CANVAS releases can differ. Check the individual title page for age ratings and content warnings as well.
English comic alternatives listed: 44 series
For a few independently spot-checked starting points, Solo Leveling has an official English comic on Tappytoon, and Who Made Me a Princess also has a Tappytoon edition. Another Typical Fantasy Romance has an English Manta listing.
The remaining destinations below are listed on our title pages. That does not establish that licenses have transferred from Tapas, or that an alternative has all the same chapters. Open the series link to check the edition before spending on it. The title and cover in the first column take you back to our reviews.
English publisher or print listings: 6 series
These entries point to publishers or volume listings rather than a replacement chapter-by-chapter reading service. Check whether the volume you need is released or available for preorder. A licensed edition can still be several volumes behind the digital comic, so it may not immediately continue where your Tapas reading stopped.
| Title | Catalog status | Score / 10 | Publisher / print listing |
|---|---|---|---|
The Villainess Is a Marionette | Completed | 8.6 | Yen Press Print Edition |
 She Is Still Cute Today | Hiatus | 8.4 | TOKYOPOP |
 The Archduke's Adopted Saint | Ongoing | 7.7 | Crossed Hearts (print) |
Villains Are Destined to Die | Ongoing | 9.1 | Yen Press / Ize Press (English comic volumes; publisher verified) |
A Business Proposal | Completed | 8.7 | Yen Press / Ize Press (English comic volumes; publisher verified) |
The Beginning After the End | Ongoing | 8.4 | Yen Press / Ize Press (English comic volumes; publisher verified) |
English source novels, rather than replacement comics: 2 series
These are prose options for readers happy to follow the underlying story in another format. Adaptations can rearrange events or condense material, so there is no safe assumption that a comic episode maps directly to a novel chapter. Check the novel listing and sample before choosing a starting point.
| Title | Catalog status | Score / 10 | English source novel |
|---|---|---|---|
The Emperor Reverses Time | Completed | 7.1 | Tappytoon (English source novel) |
 Book Eater | Hiatus | 6.6 | Wuxiaworld Novel (English) |
Non-English or restricted alternatives: 56 series
This group includes Korean originals, other language editions, and destinations whose language or current access is unclear. An Indonesian or French WEBTOON listing is not an English edition. An expired license with access limited to previous purchasers is not a new reading option for everyone.
These links can still help multilingual readers or identify the original publisher. For English-only reading, keep these entries on a watchlist until an official English comic destination is confirmed. I would avoid buying a different-language edition just because the title or cover matches.
Creator information to check: 1 series
An official creator page is a useful place to look for reading and edition information, but an information page alone does not prove that the comic is readable there. This entry is kept separate from confirmed English comic listings.
| Title | Catalog status | Score / 10 | Official information page |
|---|---|---|---|
 Heartstopper | Completed | 8.5 | Alice Oseman (official series information) |
No non-Tapas alternative currently listed: 113 series
These entries currently have no non-Tapas reading destination recorded on their Moonlight Toons pages. This is a gap in the directory, not proof that no official edition exists anywhere. It also does not mean a relaunch is confirmed or ruled out.
Keep these title pages on a watchlist. A blank alternative field is a reason to look for a publisher announcement, not a reason to assume a story is lost or that it will automatically move to another service.

Will Moonlight Toons keep these reviews?
Yes. The reviews will stay, and reading links can be updated as new official destinations are verified. A platform closing does not erase the value of knowing whether a story fits your taste, what its pacing is like, or which content warnings to check.
After Tapas closes, a title without a replacement link may show "No official English platform listed right now." That describes our current reading-link record. If you spot an official new home, send the series name and publisher link to support@moonlighttoons.com so we can check it.
Quick answers before you rebuild your reading list
Where can I read Tapas manhwa after it closes? Start with the English-comic table, then check the particular series and edition. This guide does not promise a replacement for every title.
Will my reading progress follow me? Keep your own title and episode list. Do not assume a different service can import your library, unlocks, or reading history.
Should I wait for one big migration announcement? I would track the series I care about individually. A publisher or creator announcement linked to the exact title is more useful than a broad rumor about where an entire catalog might go.
For the closure rules, use the official Tapas FAQ. For your next story, keep your shortlist here or browse by trope when you are ready to try something different.
