Synopsis

Hazel wakes inside a fairy tale she once illustrated and discovers she has become the infamous witch living in a gingerbread house. Despite the frightening rumors surrounding her, Hazel only wants to bake sweets and live peacefully. When siblings Luna and Luca arrive at her door, she takes them in and cares for them. Their guardian, Grand Duke Elliot Blaine, assumes she kidnapped them, leaving Hazel to prove that the feared witch is far kinder than the story ever suggested.

Story profile
★ My Take

Obsessed With Hazel the Sweet Witch is an easy comfort read built around baking, found family, and the gap between Hazel's terrible reputation and her actual personality. The children's affection makes the domestic scenes charming, while Elliot's suspicion provides enough tension to keep things moving. The story is deliberately gentle, so its conflict can feel light. Readers looking for cozy romantic fantasy should find that a strength rather than a flaw.

✓ Why you'd like it

Hazel turns the classic gingerbread-witch image on its head by using sweets to care for children instead of lure them. The fairy-tale familiarity makes the setup instantly readable while her slowly changing reputation gives the story satisfying warmth.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The stakes are relatively soft and family-focused, so readers wanting intense court politics or revenge may find it too cozy. The romance also develops gradually beside the childcare plot.
