Synopsis

Eight-year-old Lyrica survives life in the slums by working hard and retreating into a vivid imagination while her mother neglects her. Then her mother awakens from a prophetic dream, changes completely, and secures a contract marriage with the emperor. Swept into palace life, Lyrica must learn whether this impossible new safety is real while navigating an intimidating royal family and the wounds her childhood left behind.

Story profile
★ My Take

Choo Hyeyeon's jewel-toned art makes nearly every palace scene feel enchanted, but the emotional core remains Lyrica's cautious adjustment to being cared for. Her childlike viewpoint gives familiar regression and contract-marriage devices unusual tenderness. The adult political plot can feel distant, yet the family healing consistently lands. That contrast is memorable.

✓ Why you'd like it

The story lets luxury feel meaningful because readers experience it through a child who has never trusted comfort. Small acts of care carry as much weight as palace intrigue, creating a gentle but emotionally observant found-family story.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Lyrica's imaginative narration and deliberately childlike misunderstandings slow the political plot. Readers seeking the mother's regression story or a romance-forward contract marriage may find the focus more domestic than expected.
