Synopsis

Lily enters a political marriage with Theodore, whose hostility toward her family leaves her trapped in a cold and lonely household. She expects divorce and tries to avoid drawing his attention, carrying wounds that his contempt only deepens. After an accident, Theodore loses his memories of her and begins treating her with startling affection. For Lily, his tenderness brings uncertainty rather than immediate relief: the man has forgotten their painful history, but she still remembers it.

Story profile
★ My Take

The strongest part is Lily’s fear: kindness does not magically make years of hurt disappear. The luminous artwork and sharp shifts between warmth and darkness make that emotional contradiction especially effective. Theodore’s altered behavior creates compelling tension, though enjoying the romance depends on how much reconciliation you can accept after sustained mistreatment.

✓ Why you'd like it

Small gestures carry unusual weight because Lily cannot safely take them at face value. Her bond with her maid also gives the story an emotional anchor outside the marriage, making moments of trust feel more meaningful than a simple change in her husband’s personality.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Amnesia can make affection feel disconnected from accountability, especially while Lily remains afraid. The repeated contrast between tender treatment and remembered cruelty is emotionally exhausting, and a romance centered on the person who hurt her will not satisfy every reader.
