Synopsis

Kang Eunju loses her home and her job at nearly the same time. Desperate for stability, she accepts a live-in caretaker position at a strange mansion and immediately clashes with its rude owner. The building's eccentric residents, creative ambitions, old disappointments, and overlapping relationships gradually turn an unlucky refuge into a complicated community where Eunju may be able to rebuild both her work and personal life.

Story profile
★ My Take

Unlucky Mansion stands apart from glossy romance webtoons through yaggug's textured, expressive linework and attention to imperfect adult lives. The mansion functions as more than a quirky setting: it brings together people stalled by work, money, pride, and past relationships, allowing affection to emerge through shared routines. Eunju's friction with the male lead is funny without erasing their sharper traits, and the ensemble creates a convincing found-family warmth. The plot is deliberately modest, prioritizing mood and character over dramatic twists. Readers who meet it at that quieter level may find its melancholy comfort and visually distinctive storytelling unusually memorable.

✓ Why you'd like it

Its rough, hand-drawn visual personality feels refreshingly different from standardized digital romance art. The adult cast has jobs, disappointments, and habits that shape how they relate, while the mansion gradually becomes a believable refuge. The romance grows inside a broader story about making a life with imperfect people.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The narrative is low-key and episodic, with stretches focused more on atmosphere and housemate dynamics than romantic milestones. The leads can be abrasive, and readers accustomed to polished character models may need time to adjust to the sketchier, highly individual art style.
