Synopsis

Junghyeok Baek, the divine demon who ruled Murim through overwhelming martial power, awakens in another world as Roman Dimitri. Roman is known as a foolish baron's son who wastes his privilege while his family and territory struggle. The new occupant has no intention of preserving that reputation. Applying Murim discipline, combat knowledge, and an unforgiving view of authority, he restructures his household, confronts local threats, and steadily transforms House Dimitri into a force that neighboring nobles cannot ignore. Roman's victories expand from personal duels to military and political campaigns, while the mystery of why he was reincarnated remains behind his relentless rise.

Story profile
★ My Take

Descended from Divinity delivers an unapologetic dominance fantasy. Roman does not hide his ability for dozens of chapters or hesitate over opponents who threaten his people; he acts, then forces the political world to adjust. That decisiveness is the series' central pleasure. The Murim-to-medieval-fantasy setup also gives his methods a distinct edge, because he approaches noble warfare with values and training from a completely different tradition. Territory development and the growth of Roman's followers add structure beyond repeated duels. Soldiers who were once neglected become capable because his standards are demanding but consistent, making loyalty feel connected to leadership rather than charisma alone. The downside is limited vulnerability: Roman is so composed and powerful that emotional uncertainty rarely drives the story. Enemies often exist to demonstrate another stage of his superiority, and the political complexity remains in service of escalation. Readers seeking a ruthless, competent lead will find the execution highly satisfying; those wanting equal rivals or moral hesitation may find it one-note. The English listing is currently between seasons.

✓ Why you'd like it

The series wastes little time on false modesty. Roman reveals strength, imposes order, and produces visible changes in his family's position. His followers' development gives the victories a communal payoff, while the clash between Murim techniques and sword-and-magic warfare keeps combat visually engaging. It is particularly enjoyable for readers who like estate-building stories but want the leader to be a formidable frontline fighter rather than only an administrator or inventor.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Roman's near-total competence reduces suspense, and his harsh decisions are usually validated by the narrative instead of deeply questioned. The story contains executions, torture, war, and a rigid command structure. Romance is not a meaningful focus, and most emotional relationships are built through loyalty and military service. The repeated pattern of an arrogant enemy underestimating Roman may become predictable over a long binge. The official English edition is also on hiatus, so the broader rise remains incomplete.
