Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Neurosurgery resident Hyemin has little room in her schedule for Sooha, the famous actor who has irritated her since childhood. When he seeks confidential treatment for narcolepsy, leverage from their past makes refusing difficult. Their parents then suggest marriage, and Hyemin accepts partly to frustrate his plans. The arrangement offers practical benefits: he gains discreet medical attention, while she hopes for a husband who respects her career. Keeping their bargain private becomes another challenge for two people who can barely stop arguing.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

Saying yes to a marriage proposal partly to spite the groom is the kind of stubborn decision that makes this setup appeal to me. Hyemin has a medical career she wants to protect, which gives her side of the bargain something concrete beyond attraction. I like the clash between her priorities and Sooha's need for discreet care, though his opening blackmail makes the romance harder to settle into as uncomplicated fun.

✓ Read it if…

I'd save this for when you want a couple with reasons to keep crossing paths even while they insist they cannot stand each other. The private arrangement puts a famous actor in the unusual position of needing something his public popularity cannot secure: help from someone who already knows his less charming side.

! Skip it if…

The pressure behind Sooha's request would be my main reservation: Hyemin is blackmailed into providing treatment, so their bickering begins on unequal terms. If you need romantic teasing to feel freely welcomed by both people, that starting point could make the humor difficult to enjoy.

A practical reason to marry

What interests me is that Hyemin sees marriage as a way to protect the career she has already worked for. I would approach the bargain as a romantic-comedy setup rather than a model relationship: both people want something useful, and affection has to compete with that calculation.

The secret has a specific cost

The medical angle gives the secrecy a purpose beyond hiding a celebrity relationship. Sooha needs help for narcolepsy without making his condition public, while Hyemin is being pulled into an obligation she did not freely seek. That makes the premise more uncomfortable for me than an ordinary accidental-housemate romance, even when the bickering is played for laughs.

The bargain comes with pressure

I would keep the opening blackmail in mind when deciding whether this dynamic appeals to me. Hyemin pushing back gives their exchanges energy, but it does not erase the leverage that starts the arrangement. The attraction here depends on enjoying an adversarial setup; I would be more cautious if I wanted boundaries respected from the first meeting.
