Synopsis

Aristia was raised from birth to become empress, only to be discarded when a mysterious woman appears and takes the position meant for her. Her first life ends after abuse, loss, and execution. She awakens years earlier as a child with every memory intact and decides to reject the future that destroyed her. Aristia trains with the sword, strengthens her family position, and searches for a path outside the crown. Yet the younger prince she meets is not identical to the emperor she remembers, forcing her to confront whether changing history also changes responsibility, love, and the limits of forgiveness.

Story profile
★ My Take

The Abandoned Empress is visually beautiful and emotionally contentious. Aristia's early trauma gives real urgency to her decision to build an identity beyond becoming empress. Her sword training, friendships, and closer relationship with her father are among the strongest parts because they show recovery through action and support. iNA's elegant costumes and character art make the court setting consistently attractive. The central romance is where the series divides readers. The narrative distinguishes the prince of the new timeline from the abusive emperor of the first, but Aristia still carries those memories, and many readers find the eventual direction impossible to reconcile with her trauma. Alternative male leads receive enough development to intensify that frustration. The political plot and completed ending remain readable, but enjoyment depends heavily on whether a second timeline can create moral distance from acts the heroine experienced as real.

✓ Why you'd like it

Aristia's regression produces more than revenge: she trains, seeks legal independence, repairs family bonds, and develops competence outside romance. The court art is polished, and the complete story offers sustained political and emotional development. Readers who enjoy debating fate, changed timelines, and forgiveness will find substantial material. It is also a notable genre title whose controversy makes it useful for understanding recurring regression-romance discussions.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The first timeline includes severe abuse, sexual violence, pregnancy loss, and execution. The romantic endgame is highly divisive because it reconnects Aristia with another version of her abuser. Trauma recovery can feel subordinated to proving that changed circumstances produce a different man. Readers who need firm accountability or prefer one of the alternative leads may find the conclusion deeply unsatisfying.
