Synopsis

Jin Seon appears to be a quiet, physically fragile high-school student living with his successful father. In private, that father is a serial killer who has forced Jin to help conceal his crimes. When a new classmate becomes the next intended victim, Jin must decide whether to remain an obedient accomplice or risk everything to protect her and escape the man who controls his home.

Story profile
★ My Take

Bastard builds terror from a home that never feels safe, using Jin's powerlessness to make even ordinary conversations threatening. The father-son conflict is sharply paced, and the restrained art keeps attention on expression and dread. A few coincidences strain belief, but the emotional momentum rarely loosens. The ending feels earned.

✓ Why you'd like it

The villain is frightening because he can switch between affectionate father and calculating predator without warning. Watching Jin slowly reclaim the ability to choose turns the thriller into an equally compelling story about resisting coercive abuse.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The series centers serial murder, parental abuse, and prolonged psychological control. Its romance provides motivation and hope, but readers wanting the female lead to have equal narrative depth may find her role limited.
