Synopsis

Gyuhwan is the class outcast, tormented even during a school trip. Fleeing into the woods, he discovers a shotgun and enough shells to imagine revenge. When he returns, however, his classmates are being attacked by creatures that consume human brains and imitate what they find. The weapon that could have made Gyuhwan a killer instead makes him the group’s best chance of survival. His battle soon reveals the beginnings of the catastrophe later seen in Sweet Home.

Story profile
★ My Take

Shotgun Boy begins as a brutal bullying story and rapidly mutates into kinetic creature horror. Hongpil’s monsters are memorably grotesque, while Gyuhwan’s anger gives the survival decisions a sharper moral edge than simple heroism. Connections to Sweet Home enrich the final stretch, though some lore-heavy reveals land better for readers already familiar with that series.

✓ Why you'd like it

The series turns a revenge fantasy inside out by giving its isolated protagonist sudden responsibility for the people who hurt him. Fast action, grotesque enemies, and expanding mythology keep that moral conflict under constant pressure.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Graphic violence, sustained bullying, and body horror arrive early and rarely let up. The crossover mythology becomes prominent near the end, so the conclusion may feel less self-contained than the opening suggests.
