Synopsis

After losing his family, reclusive teenager Hyun Cha moves into the dilapidated Green Home apartment building and plans to end his life. Before he can, people begin transforming into monsters shaped by their deepest desires. Trapped with neighbors who distrust one another, Hyun discovers that he may be changing too. His condition could make him their greatest danger or their best defense as the residents fortify the building and decide what humanity means during the end of the world.

Story profile
★ My Take

Sweet Home balances spectacular monster designs with an unusually intimate study of despair, desire, and chosen community. The apartment setting keeps the danger claustrophobic, while a broad cast earns genuine emotional investment through small acts of courage. Its mythology leaves some ambiguity, but the character-centered ending gives the horror weight beyond survival spectacle.

✓ Why you'd like it

Every monster externalizes a human craving, so action scenes also reveal character and theme. The residents’ gradual transformation from suspicious strangers into a fragile community creates hard-earned hope without ever softening the story’s sustained brutality.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

The series contains frequent gore, suicide themes, and painful character deaths. Its ensemble focus sometimes sidelines Hyun, while readers seeking exhaustive scientific explanations for the outbreak may find the symbolic logic intentionally incomplete.
