Synopsis

Ariadne helps her fiancé Cesare seize the Etruscan throne, only to be discarded after his victory and murdered by the sister who wants to become queen. She unexpectedly returns to her seventeen-year-old self with full knowledge of the future. Given another chance, Ariadne resolves to escape the fate waiting for her, outmaneuver the family and nobles who once used her, and pursue power on her own terms while her relationships with Cesare and Crown Prince Alfonso begin to change.

Story profile
★ My Take

This series works best as a political revenge drama rather than a straightforward romance. Ariadne is intelligent but deliberately morally complicated, which gives her victories more bite and also makes her choices genuinely divisive. The court maneuvering and family conflict stay engaging, though the repeated romantic complications and fate-driven setbacks can make the story feel prolonged.

✓ Why you'd like it

Ariadne does not return as an innocent heroine simply correcting past mistakes; she remembers the ruthless things she did and still knows how to play the same political game. That tension makes her rise through the court especially compelling for readers who enjoy ambitious heroines and messy moral choices.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

Ariadne's past actions and willingness to manipulate others make her difficult to view as purely heroic. The romance also stretches across complicated loyalties and recurring setbacks, while the political plot often takes priority over quick romantic progress.
