Synopsis

Diana Lesley dies fighting Cornelius Heimann in a war between two kingdoms, then wakes in her ten-year-old body. Hoping to avoid her former fate, she decides to become a proper lady rather than return to knighthood. As Princess Juliana’s lady-in-waiting, she faces suspicious nobles and the approach of another war. Cornelius, who dreams of the life in which he killed her, begins pursuing her, leaving Diana to protect the people she loves without repeating her old mistakes.

Story profile
★ My Take

Diana’s skill as a former knight gives her more to wrestle with than a wardrobe change. The tension comes from trying to prevent another war while living among people who expect her to behave very differently. Cornelius’s past role makes their romance inherently difficult to accept, which gives the second-chance premise its edge.

✓ Why you'd like it

Her new position beside the princess lets the story test whether changing her public role can really change her fate. The unsettling connection to Cornelius keeps the romantic arc tied to the question of what either of them remembers.

⚠ What may not be for everyone

If you find romance with a former killer hard to root for, Diana and Cornelius’s history may outweigh their present chemistry. The palace maneuvering also asks for patience between the bigger confrontations.
